Landscape Hydrology Laboratory

HYDROLOGY + HUMANS

what we do

Welcome to the Landscape Hydrology Laboratory, a research unit within the Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences Department at the University of Florida.

We work on the most pressing environmental problems of our time: How can we ensure societal resilience in the face of changing climate while also protecting healthy ecosystems?

We work in diverse systems, intersecting with the fields of hydrology, climate science, urban resilience, wetland ecology, and stream ecology. Example topics include preparing for sea level rise, overcoming urban water supply vulnerability, mitigating impacts on stream and river water quality, slowing the loss of wetland connectivity to other landscape elements, and protection of groundwater quality. We have ongoing projects examining vulnerability of global coastal infrastructure to sea level rise, estimating greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands, and explaining continental-scale spatial and temporal drivers of water quality.
